can you squeeze the lifters in a vise or is there another way to get them empty ,

you can squeeze them gently in a vice, they will go about half way down and then you will feel heavy resistance from the vice handle. Do not tighten any further.

If the lifter springs back up it should be good, if it stays down then it's scrap.

you dont need to empty them the oil flows thru them from side(in) to top(out)

im sure i posted here the other day but its not here lol must of closed the page or got side tracked

you can put them in degreaser over night then blow them out with an air line from the top that will clear and cack on the inside
and you can prime them with oil before fitting if you choose or prime in the engine before running for the 1st time

I always squeeze them in a vice when I rebuild a cylinder head, good lifters will bounce straight back up, duff lifters go in the bin.

When I have checked the lifter from a bent valve it always stays down .......

thats why i tryed it 🙂 but i soon had 8 dead lifters

i dont squeeze them in the vice any more 🙂 just replace them for the cost its better
