Just a thought, I had a similar issue with one of my fog lights. The light worked fine but every now and then it would throw up a check light error. Turned out the units lamp mount was corroded and causing an issue when the system checked the lamps.

Yeah.. but.. the fogs aren't part of the check system.
If it was I'd know exactly, one of the bulbs isn't there. I took it out.

Just a quick question how friendly are these HID kits when it comes to MOT time do you need headlight washers or something daft like that?

Apparently not. The only thing I read was along the lines of, if they are more than 2000 lumens they need washers and auto levelling. But they don't test lumen output on the mot test and are not allowed to dismantle anything to check.
There is also something about there should be a levelling system that can be operated from the drivers seat.. so the little wheel thingy on the headlight switch meets that need.

no that bs the only time washers and auto levelers are needed are when a manufacturer ""vauxhall"" supplies a car from new with xenon lighting in after market ""us fitting them"" there's is no requirement

mot rules still apply for height and beam pattern if they follow that you're fine

The Check light comes up with the brake/headlight message. I wen out earlier and checked all the lights and they are fine.
Any ideas what would throw a check if everything's working?
There might be LED bulbs in the brake lights, I'll check that over the weekend.. but that should be ok shouldn't it?

Looks like I'm holding off on the HID purchase, Kirsty wants to fit the FK Angel Eyes so I'll be buying some regular bulbs until they go on..

Wanted some LED fog bulbs (H3's) but it's been mentioned the Vec B fogs are a bit odd internally meaning the LED H3's generally available might be plop.

led's have a way lower amp consumption so normally throw up the bulb error
i have chosen to stick with normal ring bulbs in the monitored parts of the system 🙂

So the amperage would affect the resistance across the poles?

they fit a capacitor to the + and - to add load to the circuit so the system dont throw a fault
or a large resistor

I'm going to replace them with normal bulbs.. this sort of faffing about holds zero interest for me.

I need to get some white LED's behind the black side repeaters, the light is really dim.. I have some plug'n'play load resistors so no cutting/joining of wires is required.

It's not terribly high on the list right now though. Exhaust blow first :mad:
