hi all new to this forum right where to start bought a vectra c 2.2 sri 2002 around a month ago seem fine drove it just over 100 miles and big problem emis light on loads of smoke out the back so got towed how next day compression test 180 psi cil 1 all the rest nothing , so stripped the head off and found a blown valve and all seats and shot had the all new valves and reseated new valve stem seals , all piston rings fine so rebuild the enguine list of stuff replace
new
spark plugs
gaskets
thermostat
lifters
air filter
oil filter
oil
fuel filter
aux belt
tenioners
cts
erg blanked
injectors
second hand coil pack tested and working
so any way rebuilt got it running but was ruff compression 1-2and 4 all 180 psi but 0 on 3 was a faulty new lifter changed now ok , now have good compression 1-2-3 but 4 only 120psi when warm and have try oil in the bore no change. the problem being very ruff running on start up and misfire till warm the slight mis fire when driving get above 1400 rpm car is fine and no mis fire , i no longer have a clue i have payed out over 700 for parts and to have the valves done and have so far payed out more that the car is worth with what i payed for it and yes the its a z22se any help would be good many thanks

ems light is on but on start up till warm it flashes the when warm just stay on did have all codes cleared the re read and the only code is p0102-00 mass or volume air flow circuit low input and p0300-00 random/multiple cylinder misfire detected

Hi, and welcome to the site. 🙂
When the engine was rebuilt, were new timing and balance chain kits fitted ? (prudent to do so unless they were renewed recently, before you got the car).
Strange that compression on No 4 cyl was 180 psi, then down to 120 psi after new lifter on No 3 fitted. :confused:

chains where near on new , i have a funny felling might be a load of crap but number 4 being the furthest away from oil pump that it could do with a flush out cleaner ans the rocker cover was caked in shit and so was the head had the head acid dipped and totaly cleaned

i mean that the right oil presure isnt getting to the lifters on cly 4 until the car gets above 1500 rpm than they kick in a work proper or is that darft ?

It sounds as though regular oil changes may have been neglected if the cam cover was caked up with sludge. Maybe the sump could do with a clean out along with the oil pick up pipe.

had a tech 2 done on iot yesterday and there is low air input on idle and (i forgot what he called it ) full thottle mode is active all the time so running rich , only owned the car for like 5 weeks so i have a idea some one has tryed to remap it and not done a very good job as some one has been in to the ecu to remove the egr valve so have her booked in for the 2nd december to have ecu put back to standard and will put and oil fush though the car as well clean oil ways out and give her more fresh oil and filter
