Burnt spark plugs and blue smoke

Hi all new to the site just checked a few things on my 2.2 Vectra c its been blowing out blue smoke on start up and high revs since I've bought it I'm guessing valve seals or rings on that one❓also checked my spark plugs and they seem to have burnt ash deposits on them not sure of the cause or cure,also it seems to struggle to accelerate smooth in 3rd gear any help would be great thanks

Hi and welcome to the site. 🙂
It does sound as though the valve stem seals or rings will require looking at.
Does your Vectra C have the SE or YH engine ?
Maybe give it a mini service (oil & filter, plugs, air filter, fuel filter) which should make it a little smoother.

Spark Plugs part nos:
Z22SE - GM 9199038 (triple electrode) or Bosch HLR8STEX
Z22YH - GM 93175880 (or equivalent cross ref: 14FGR8DQU7)

Hi Kevin thanks for replying my engine is the se I'm planning on servicing in the next week or two, do you know where the best place to get seals and rings from or ?am I best ordering them from vaux?

You can obviously order from Vx dealers but probably quite expensive.

A good source to order from is AutoVaux (www.autovaux.co.uk) - quite a few of the members on here use them. (y)

you could also check your throttle body too, give that a clean also.

Hi agentkb ive given it a little clean but I'm waiting to get a new gasket so I can take it off and do it properly but I've bin told the only place you can get one from is Vx, I also want to do my inlet manifold at the same time as there both clogged up.

which gasket? what was wrong with it?i used mineral spirits on mine brought it up a treat, took off all the swirl flaps too, greased them up a little. make sure all your gasket surfaces are very clean. i used the other halfs nail polish remover cause it has ACETONE in it.

The throttle body gasket is the one I've bin told that it's a Vx job when I take it off I was going to use autoglym tar remover to clean it as it petrol based.

thats BS:wtf: ive had mine off and never replaced it, works just fine just use mineral spirits to clean off any oil and soot job done. plus its very cheap just leave it for wee while to dry out.(n)

Okay I take it the gaskets are different now cus when I had an Astra with the x18xe1 engine the gasket on the throttle body was only like a card material then.
