KevinH Probably doesn't matter too much about the initial quality/grade as it's prudent to change it (and the filter) after 400-500 miles, but put a good quality oil (preferably fully synthetic) in then.
identiti66 I've used Vx 10W40 semi synth for everything... at a tenner for 5L it's cheap enough for rapid oil changes and good enough for keeping in there.
patricks For running in avoid synthetics. Mineral oil is better for that. Then go to synthetics after running in period
