Engine Rebuild

After buying an Astra 2.2 non runner from eBay in November last year, swapping the engine for a slightly newer one (which had no holes in from the chain snapping) and taking it to Germany for Osch Fest and the ring, its loosing oil and in need of a rebuild. The car is used only for the track with the intention to supercharge in the distant future when funds permit.

Looking to price up the parts and update my list of required parts.

What are the best places to buy the parts from and can anyone provide me with a list for a full rebuild?

after pricing up for a full rebuild using the links that evocarlos kindly provided it appears it is going to be out of my budget. Apparently the missus says a new roof on the house is more important. A bit of water never hurt anyone.

plan is to strip it down and inspect, may need to post some pics on here when its stripped down and ask for advice on condition of parts.

What is the minimum that I would need to replace for the s/c conversion. Its a high mileage engine so I am expecting that it will need reboring and oversized pistons. What is the likely cause of it burning oil? piston rings? valve stem seal?

I think it,'s usually piston rings but if you do one you are as well doing the other also
It also depends on the colour of exhaust smoke which let's you know the cause

Anyone ran the Z22SE naturally aspirated with low compression pistons? With summer approaching and no track action for a year, I was wondering how it would run post rebuild with low comp pistons? If it will be rough or have excessively reduced power it may be another year before I will be able to s/c it.

there is a set of 8.9:1 CR pistons for sale on vx220.org, brand new unused. 86.5mm bore.

I have built an engine with 8.9:1 CR and the owner ran it for about 6 months before fitting the SC kit, don't think it made a huge difference on his standard car.

Same question but oposite direction.
Can z22se internals be used on B207? (interested if I can use Z22se Forged: Crank, Pistons and Rods on a B207)

yes as long as they are a matched set - so 2.2 crank, 2.2 rods and 2.2 pistons

The z22se, z22yh and b207 cylinder blocks are basically identical, just some minor differences
