Well today made the run up to carls place to have the chains replaced ,, got there nice and early to be welcome by a DAVID BELLAMY look alike ...lol ...

SO today was long but with myself a carl chatting about the engine ,Turbo and superchargers we were unstoppable ..lol ..

AS I pulled into his place he said he could hear the chain bounce on the car ..lol ..Turned out the balance chain was slack and then the best part was the Cam chain was told it was done 4k ago ,but lost the paperwork ,to find out it was a BCM CHEAP OF CHEAP chain kits .. so lucky really I took to chance to have the gen Vaux ones fitted .. Got a free lesson on fitting chains and what not to drop into the sump( CARL ) , but now the car sounds so much better and the idle problem I had is now settled and ticks over fine .. had a blast on the way home ,car went sweet ...
SO can recommend anyone who does not want to fit them and willing to take a drive to carls ,
After seeing carls SC astra in the flesh makes me think whats steps I need to take ...lol..

it was a balancer shaft bolt that go dropped them things are huge i never expected it to get down there it sure didnt want to come back out lol

the bga kit was fitted but who ever done the job left the old oil jet in place the one with the brass restrictor in :S

As always the drive to Carl's will always be worth it. I've been once, but would happily go again as it was enjoyable. Was great to meet him and to see how it was done, luckily, Carl didn't drop anything when he did mine, lol. Mind you, I was prepared if the sump had to come off as I'd got some sealant to seal it all back up. Another top job done by Carl as usual, that's why I will always recommend him.(y)

with all the fun and games I forgot to look at the sump plug ..I want to get a few spare washers seals in , for the new service set up ..lol .. what was it on the z22 is it a rubber seal or a copper washer . getting all kinds in the search on line come up .. just bagged myself a trade pack of ten oil filters to go in the man cave ..lol .. got to look after this one now so be ready ..

In reality it was a bit far for me to drive too.. nearly 3 hours each way.. but SO worth it.
Plus it means it's all (almost) bedded in by the time you get home 😃
