Z22SE timing and balance kit on a Z22YH

Hi guys, looking for a bit of info, what are the differences between these as the kits look exactly the same. Do they transfer, anyone did it?

i have a yh kit on my old z22se engine
all the parts are the same but the exhaust cam sprocket on the yh kit as it has a cam sensor and the z22se does not

i also have 2 brand new unused z22se cam sprokets that would convert a yh kit to fit a z22se one one required to convert and think there worth £7 each shipped 🙂

Thank you for your insight evocarlos, most welcome. There's so many variations and different companies selling these kits its hard to pick a gm kit out from the rest.

at £78 it wont be a gm chain 🙂

You can get a genuine gm chain kit on eBay for 135 which is a good price most would say I got one about 4 weeks ago

The chances are the cheaper the chain kit the less likely it is to last long term

It's worth waiting another couple of weeks if you can't afford it now

I would say it's a gamble to go for one so cheap but in the end up it's up to you

The £135 kits went up to £145 and are still out of stock. They told me more were coming but supply is limited.. here's the link, keep an eye on it, last time they got some in there were only 5.. fortunately I was able to get one.

I think I also got one of the last of the dwindling stock it was about a week before that I remember looking at that post talking about them

did this kit contain any Cloyes parts?

The long, straight, black, nylon thing (looks like a deformed tent peg) is Cloyes.. the rest is sealed in bags and I'm a bit too prone to losing stuff to be comfortable ripping it all open.

the gm kit will contain Cloyes parts..... 🙂

If your sprockets are not worn u can reuse them and get a kit without the sprockets these are usually about 20% cheaper than kit with sprockets. Doing this means u can use a z22se kit on your YH and save a bit of money, Try www.rockauto.com

ive just ordered a vernier caliper and that should give me a better idea of the wear on the sprockets. my engine is on 89k so i think it will be due an new set.thanks for your post:zthumbup:, I am hoping to afford the GM kits, just need to wait a wee while longer. fingers crossed the weather stays good, well dry at least(y)
