Piston rings

I'm going to be dooing my rings on the Astra soon and wounderd what people think of these rings There on eBay or could any one recommend a good brand other than GM ones thanks

there are mahle rings on ebay you may have to look at z20let rings tho

Thanks Carl so the Mahle rings are the best ones other than oem

im sure the factory z22se pistons are mahle

What would be the running in procedure be for new rings ?

Orderd my honing tool and ring compressor today aswell.
hopefully order my springs tomorrow all going good money wise

Then just oil left to buy 🙂

Will 10w40 mineral oil be OK to bed the rings in

yes
you can use 10/40 semi to just remember to run the engine in thru stages

just run the rings in steady with out pushing the engine let the box do the work then slowly go higher and higher
0-100 miles no more than 3000rpm
100-300 miles no more than 4000rpm
300-500 start to pick up the rev range no more than 5000rpm
500+ unlimited (oil&filter change)

you can change the oil at each interval or just start with a 10/40 semi then dump it at 500miles

Thanks mate it's going to take me for ever I only do 4miles a day :facepalm:
will have to go on a long ass drive one weekend . I might need a bit of help of you guys along the way when I do it. I've only got a weekend to do the job I've got a tech from work to give me a hand tho so hopefully will get it all sorted 🙂

Hope so mate that's why I'm dooing it mine drinks it and smokes under a heavy foot about 5000rpm . But I was out on a long drive yesterday and pulled over and gave it a good revving g to red line and it didn't smoke at all so got me a bit confused now

Hmmmm yes b4 I did my cam chain n oil chain and valve seals she used to drink about a ltr a week but now I've done all, drove home from butlins bogna and she need a good dose of oil quite funny really as I got twin 5" tails so when I boot it it proper cloudy in the mirror lol

Yer mine used to drink about 700mm a week I only do about 50 miles a week tops. But yesterday when I pulled over and gave it a good good revving there was no smoke so it's got me thinking now it doesn't smoke upon star up in the morning eather . I've got everything apart from the rings now
