Cracked/Broken gearbox union

Got a manualy zafira thats come in with the plastic part of the union (where the slave cylinder connects coming out of the gear box) has broken and the fluid line will not stay connected

I have a second hand box here but my question is - Is there a way to replace this plastic piece without removing the box.. looks like a lot of work for a small piece of plastic

From memory having had a Zaf (2001) that had two gearboxes I'd say the answer is no. Dependent on which type of CSC is fitted then inside there is a copper pipe which is screwed into the fitting then a clip holds it in place on the housing. Alternatively they did do one which was all plastic from the CSC to the outside of the bell housing and clicked together. I had one fitted on the last box that I had done and although simpler to fit together it was a pain to bleed through.

I always thought the plastic section simply clipped onto the metal pipe coming from the slave cylinder, usually a small U shaped metal clip, it will be close to the gearbox.

I have several of the plastic sections laying about as the vx220 uses an alloy section instead.

I'm sure from memory that the connection fits in from the inside out. Yes there is a clip that holds it in place but I think that stops it dropping back inside. LUK does one that clips together through the hole but once connected cannot be removed again. This is the LUK one and shows the old style one as well.

i got it out just needed a little tug.. it looks like its actually missing an oring from the top of the nipple

anyone got a close up picture of a complete one?

it's usually stuck inside the plastic piece you removed

yeh its gone 🙁 oh well ill just rip one off anouther box here
