Balance chain set up....

Right done a search but no joy , asking when reading about removal of the balance shafts and the chain etc ,,( done this on the old Z20 LET .. but the LER don't have oen fitted ..
SO thinking another way ,WHY can we not just remove the chain from the balance shafts and not fit it , leav the shafts in place ... or do they hit something if they left in .. ( bit like the cams ) ..?

The chain runs the water pump so that needs to be there unless you go electronic water pump.

not sure if the shafts could be left(i think they could be left in place)

you can get a shortened chain i believe that will run just the waterpump.. im not 100% sure as i have never seen this mod here in AU as i work on family cars not pocket rockets
