Just been in a arguement on vvoc as i was telling them how my 2.2 vec left a 2.5 and all the V6 owners came at me....

as far as im concerned the 2.2 is a better engine and more eco than any V6.

so i decided to take my 2.2 back underground - to stop it falling into the wrong hands...

no mate - just wanted to shut them big mouthed V6 Owners up - but i did leave a V6 Behind and his was not standard. just annoyed at the lack of respect for the 2.2 mate.

Depends wot v6 it tbh m8...the sri is only 167bhp,but the gsi is bout 180ish..

I had a blast with a v6 gsi and he left me dust...cudnt catch him..

My 2.2 aint slow by no means,but think its down to the driver too..

Think the thread over there got abit out of hand too..lol

I read it too, threads like that on vvoc always get out of hand, we must all remember that the v6 vec is king and no other engine can touch it lol

no dis-respect to my fellow vvoc'ers, but I easily beat v6 vec's in my 2.2, but I don't go into 3 figure speeds as I don't want to die young (especially after rolling my 55 plate sri at just 60 mph, it takes a long time to stop even from 60 mph)

I know mine's been tweaked, but even so the v6 isn't exactly fast

I've owned a 2.5 v6 gsi, I sold it because it did 19mpg and was slow for such a big engine, so I can speak from both sides

so yes the 2.2 is a better engine but the sound of the v6 is better by miles drool.gif

read your post on vvoc and was gonna post in it but didn't because the 2.2 v v6 threads appear every couple of months and are very boring to read cos they all go the same way..

i won't post all my thoughts (for various reasons) but so many people slate the 2.2 on there, even though a few v6 drivers have posted saying that they have had trouble losing a 2.2.

At the end of the day tho...it depends on the car ad how its driven,can remeber years ago my m8 had a 1.3 escort and i had a 1.6 not much diff really but he always whooped my arse..

I love the 2.2 and think its a great engine..

i am with vocky my dads got a sri 167, and it sounds mint but i think my Astra could give him a race rallygif, tbf his is not to bad on fuel,

my mises dad had a 03 mondeo st220 and it was the nuts, the brakes are massive and for a big car it could shift and stop, but only prob was he would get 50 miles on a tenner i think he had a hole in his fuel tank, it would pin u in the leather recaro's up to 70 cough cough , 🙂
