markm7 Hi all, I would really appreciate any pointers from any experienced minds on what catback exhaust system they would personally choose best on performance and lowest on noise on an unmodified standard z22se which i may also get an induction kit for next but have no intentions to go any further than that. So the Exhaust System would want to be chosen with that in mind i suppose. I hear that different sizes bores tend to suit different power ranges aswell. Advice welcomed please
corsaZ22se I was really pleased with the remus system I had on my Vectra b. 2" bore with centre silencer and twin 3" tips. worked well on standard and after tuning to 170bhp.

corsaZ22se deeper note and louder as rev's went up. but still fairly quiet until 3.5k rpm only got loud when you went full throttle. normal driving was nice just a bit more than standard.
corsaZ22se no gain at all, well not that you would notice. with panel filter and exhaust there was 1 bhp gain top end. you need to change cat to a 200cpi sport cat and remove pre cat to see any gains.
patricks I'd like to do 200 cpi cat but i do loads of motorway driving and i dont want a drone sound. Bugger i would have expected 5hp from a cat back. Would an exhaust manifold and a port matched head be a better option if i want as little as possible extra noise with an extra 5 -10 bhp??
corsaZ22se balancer delete, port matching, sport cat and pre cat removal. sport cat will not make it boomy unless you use cheap exhaust.
patricks Really, id have done it ages ago if id know that - when u say cheap exhaust do u mean sliencer or cat or manifold or the lot? I hear so many boom boxes that it puts me off............
corsaZ22se seems to be a craze at the moment to have loud exhausts, not to my taste but that's why we mod our cars. the whole lot or any part of the system, usually cheap = poor quality. buy cheap buy twice. 🙁
patricks Yes we have a similar saying here..........."i cant afford to by cheap"...... ha ha. So good exhaust manifold with a good 200 cpi cat and a good silence with the standard pipes in between will still be quiet for motorway?
