2.4 vvt with a few tweaks

So this engine started life in a Vauxhall Antara, which ended up in the breakers and the engine on ebay 🙂

VVT head is extremely heavy :confused:

So best thing to do is remove it 😃

It is having an external trigger wheel and a Saab head, then a SC :cool:

2mm overhang into the cylinder with the 86mm head ?
does this one have the same crank your using in your vx engine ?

overhang will be reduced, same as I did with my cylinder head for it's 90mm bore.

and a picture of the adaptor required to use z22se camshafts and cam cover on the saab head

love the trigger wheel setup, so much more tidy than mine.

the cylinder head needed some machining, so a quick skim, valves cleaned up and refaced, plus the valve seats were recut

added some brand new valve stem seals and new Saab valve springs

checked the z22yh plastic cam cover for fit

still waiting for the head bolts to arrive, then just need to refit the timing chain and oil pump, etc

genuine head bolts arrived today, so fitted those and finished the build 🙂

Brand new genuine cam sprockets, sprocket bolts and upper chain guide - 2.4 stuff is totally different (n)

Hola! Estoy interesado en hacer un 2.4 y necesitaría información.
¿Se podría instalar la culata z22se sin modificación en el bloque LE5?
Los errores de traducción (ya que soy de España) son grandes, pero por lo que he podido entender, habría que poner un adaptador en la polea del cigüeñal LE5 para que pueda leer el sensor del cigüeñal z22se, ¿no?

Answers from the original people in this thread might be slim.

I believe you could use the Z22 head on this block.

If you are using the standard ecu then yes you would need the 6+1 crank trigger wheel to be in place. External is the only real option unless you retain your existing 2.2 crankshaft.

If you are using a good aftermarket ecu, then you should be able to use any crank trigger you want

No me ha quedado claro, no entiendo la necesidad de mover el sensor de cigueñal al exterior.
de todas maneras me esta resultando imposible encontrar un motor por aqui, tuve la oportunidad de adquirir un motor completo por 500 euros y lo deje pasar.
