astraz Hi all, both my keys no longer work the central locking so I had no choice but to go to the stealers and get a new fob (and yes I've tried all the common things). However I can't seem to program it with opcom. I get as far as entering the car security code and when I press ok nothing seems to happen, the programming keys button remains shaded out. Does anyone have any ideas, as I really don't want to give the stealers £80 to program it on top of the £50 for the fob. Thank you.
Dave_Gilbert I think you need tech2 for key programming. does the old keys still start the car? If so have you tried a service on ebay where you send you fob (not key blade or chip to a guy n he fits new switches, battery and shell)
HarleyPete You can program a key with Opcom provided the transponder is unused which it should be in a new key. I managed it on my Signum with Opcom. If your old keys are there you may be able to re program back to your car again with Opcom.
HarleyPete Thinking about it what sort of key have you got? If it's the old style key then you may be able to swap over your old transponder to the new key and then resync it I believe.
astraz Thanks for the replies so far. My key is the old style 2 button fob. I am using the original key blade with transponder but a new unprogrammed fob direct from vauxhall so that I can remote lock it. The key will start the car ok, just won't do central locking. Vauxhall have told me that I have to have the new fob programmed to the car at a cost of £79 (1/2 hour labour). I thought I could do this with opcom, but if not have a very expensive useless fob as I can't afford to spend a further £79 on top of the £50 for the fob. Thanks.
HarleyPete Have you checked that you have a spare entry point to program a key into? I wonder if you have say four keys programmed in already which means you'd have to delete one in order to program another. That might be why the button is greyed out. Just a thought but I remember something about it whilst researching doing mine.
astraz I only have 2 programmed keys so there is space anyway. Given up on this as it's doing my head in. Called a mobile guy to come and do it today. Thanks for all your help.
astraz All done! Guy took all of 2 minutes!! Put my original key in ignition and placed new fob over it, pressed a few buttons on his computer and that was it.
