longpig Hi All, Searching the internet for "Drive by wire throttle body cleaning" there seems to be as much contradictory information as there is for replacing a timing chain tensioner. Don't use carby cleaner. Don't clean it on the car. Don't touch the butterfly valve. Take it off the car and you screw the throttle sensor and it will have to go through a releaning. etc etc. Seems to me that the most important part to clean is the edge of the butterfly, so unless I jam it with a long Q-tip and gently clean it with same, I am going to end up moving it. Don't like the idea of cleaning it on the car if I can avoid that. And don't like the idea of having to drive a wonky idling car for a week while it re-learns. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 2001 Soft top.
Dave_Gilbert Take it off the car and clean it with carb cleaner it will need to relearn but its not as bad as it sounds. Drive it steady and it will be fine. does the same thing if you replace the throttle body or if you have the throttle body polished n ported.
