Moving Battery to Boot Astra-G

Drove my wifes 1.6 SXi on std suspension the other day, the front end feels nicely balanced, ultimately not as much grip as mine on B12's but just a more 'pure' feel. Guess this is due to the lower weight on the front axle. So for my daily driving mild track day car I'm thinking of moving the battery to the boot for added front end lightness!

First thing I tried was swapping the battery in situ. 17.9kg (66amp) in the 2.2 for the 12.3Kg(50amp) in the 1.6. Does she crank......yes she does no prob and Voltage drop OK too. Will probably need to swap back for the winter though.

Anyone moved their battery? I'm thinking the spare wheel well prob best? Whats the best route for cables? Any other potential problems?

AIr con delete next, then carbon bonnet if I can find 2nd hand.

Battery is better forward of rear axle and low down for better weight spread lower, behind the passenger seat would be best. Air con pump and and rad is worth while as again it's weight in the wrong place, I've just bought a carbon bonnet and it's got to be half the weight of the standard steel one.

Shame you havent got a vectra c sri, they have a ally bonnet as standard

Battery behind passenger seat, not sure my wife will like the 'accessory foot rest' for the kids in the back!
How heavy is the carbon bonnet, surely must be way less than 1/2 the weight?

Ah didn't realise your carting the kids around still in it I thought it was a track car. The carbon bonnet is 11.3kg, I haven't had chance to weigh the steel one yet
