EGR removal benefits

Hi everyone i know this has been done to death but assuming an EGR valve is working correctly ie no lumpy idle or fault codes or other such symptoms of a problematic EGR - what if any BENEFITS can i expect from removing it? Like i said no issues with EGR in car at the moment aside from needing to clean the throttle body every 50K or so.......been toying with the idea of doing it but given that i dont have any issues what would i gain from removing EGR??

you would gain not having to clean the t/b so much and not so much soot in the inlet
there is all but no benefit from removing apart from the cleaner inlet
in normal driving its there to put hot gasses back into the inlet and increases fuel efficiency when cruising but its marginal amount of gain in comparison to with it
the other convenience is if you black the egr and the valve fails you're already 50% done in getting rid of it with an egr cheater fitted you won't have to spend £120 on a new valve

Yeah know what its for.......hard to justify blanking or cheating EGR on those grounds then especially since i like low emissions and clean air to breathe🙂 I have a mildly ported throttle body and i noticed a small but worth while improvement with it - wouldnt removing the pipe that goes from the EGR into the throttle body yield a similar improvement?

Oh by the way Carl my car is running so much nicer since i changed the water pump. Before the change i would sometimes get this horrible screech on start up iand the engine was a quite loud. I used to think the screech was the starter motor and the louder engine was because of the de-restricted air box and panel filter - couldnt have been more wrong. Methinks coolant must have been making its way into the oil or maybe one or more of the screws holding the water pump sprocket were a bit loose...... anyhow she is as quite as a mouse now and purrs once more 🙂

What about power? 😃 I wonder, engine is 147hp with egr from factory, how much power would it be without egr? :pigeon4:

no change in power the egr is shut during hard acceleration so you would see no gain
the egr plusses as your cruising to gain better fuel economy more exhaust gas = less fuel

Alright mate, i should test it out how it responds with op-com 😉

One more thing, is there difference if egr blanked and cheated or disabled in ECU ?

I didnt know you could delete the egr out the ecu.

Id say blank it with a blanking plate and delete out of ecu.

Maybe I'm being stupid but I would think it would produce the same results either way.
