Graham_M Hi all, Just changed my chains and done some looking about but can't really find an answer so.....the kit came with the z20net tensioner as I expected but does it just screw in or do you need to activate it? Cheers.
HarleyPete Taken from another post on here: "gm recommend fitting the tensioner unactivated but activating it while fitted in the engine but due to miss activation or none activation of the tensioner with it installed in the engine we recommend fitting it activated that way when people who do their chains and don't prime the oil system 1st before starting the chain won't jump the exhaust sprocket when the engine fires and the tensioner is waiting for the oil pressure to get to the tensioner"
evocarlos get the slack of the chain to the rear then activate the tensioner by pushing the piston down on some wood and twisting it will take a couple of tries it will go from free moving to sprung loaded the use one had to push the tensioner in the hole and the other to turn it in to the thread
Graham_M Just a quick update, all back together, tensioner worked a treat, started up and quiet as a mouse. Cheers for the advice @[deleted] and @[deleted]
HarleyPete Your most welcome mate, thanks go more to @[deleted] as he's the one who knows how they work more than I do, lol. Glad it's all running great again great work, just keep up the regular services and the chains will last well.
Graham_M Yeah nice to be able to ask advice from you all and get it. I'm happy first chains I've done on a car and she sounds sweet now. My timing tool and crankshaft pulley holding tool worked a treat as well.
