t500tty hey guys new to the 2.2 direct engine, bought a signum cheap and hopefully can fix it up cheap got the car was told the stem seals are totally shot theres no pulling power at all and lots and lots of blue smoke, water levels seem fine any ideas
Dave_Gilbert Stem seals and a stretched chain. Yh engines suffer performance when chains stretch. But stem seals can be done with the head on. @[deleted] will be able to help more on the stem seals. And chains. welcome to the site.
t500tty Cheers mate been sending him some messages now hopefully he will know more then me My fault code list
Dave_Gilbert I bet half of them faults are sensors out of alignment due to a stretched chain. Im not 100% but im betting
HarleyPete As will have been mentioned many times on this site the consensus is to fit genuine GM timing chain and your choice of GM or FAI balance chain. I got all my stuff via the shop on the forum but not sure if @[deleted] is doing them still. If not then maybe Ebay an alternative but make sure it's a genuine GM timing chain and that you get all the gaskets etc. Carl will be able to give you all the info you'll need.
t500tty Iv taken the cam cover off and the chain doesn't seem to bad, got slight movement but I'm sure that's normal, turned the engine over with a socket set slight clunk noise, pistons look abit dirty 1 3 4 look abit wet and dirty on top, when turning it over was getting slight blue smoke come out the plug holes, I started the car 10 minutes before hand
