totally agree
if you can do some of the work yourself, the costs are much lower
as for porting the cylinder head, I've done a fair few, so didn't have much trouble
the hardest part was judging where to reshape the ports, as some sections don't need opening up - especially the inlet section where it joins the manifold, it's big enough already
most work was around the throat area, which is quite restrictive and the head took about 20 hours to do :shock:
when I ported mine nobody seemed to be able to provide much info, patriot had only just released their's and even the gm head was like hens teeth
