Central Locking

Hi All, does anyone know anything about Meriva Central Locking, just bought one from auction and the central locking doesn't work. The LED on the remote key lights up when either the lock or unlock buttons are pressed and the indicators flash on the car but none of the door will lock or unlock. I have changed the battery in the key to no avail, i have not checked the fuse yet (but will do) because my thinking is, if it were the fuse would the indicators flash when the buttons are pressed on the key. All the doors are lockable manually with ease from inside the car and the locks outside are quite easy to operate. Just didn't know if there is a common fault with them. Thanks.

Put key in, turn ignition on, press lock button on key. Doors should lock then unlock.

Works on astra mk4, maybe it might on yours too?

It might have uncoded itself. Common on mk 4 astras I hear.

do all the locks lock and unlock if u put the key in the door?

As long as the key is programmed to the car (of which it should be if the key works for everything else lol) then give this a read

Jwalker and Dave, i have put the key in and turn ign on and pressed button on key to no avail, Dave when i put the key in the lock and turn, only that door opens, when i press a button on the key there is nothing from any door.

Peng12, i will try this this morning, the key must be programmed to the car because i was able to drive it home, believe it wouldn't start if it wasn't.

The key fits the hole and the transponder chip in the key will start the car so the buttons n motherboard in the key may have uncoded itself from the car(my spare has done this)

Or the motherboard was replaced by previous owner but not coded to the car maybe?

As mine tells me that my second key has decoded itself, I need to have a look at mine at some point

The plot thickens, there is no fuse fitted in the fuse box, question is, why? Trouble is i don't have a spare til tomorrow because it's one of those hideous small ones, got plenty of the bigger type, sods law!!

Hmmmmm, I know zafiras suffer from broken wires inbetween the rear doors and B pillars and cause the fuse to pop.

it sounds abit strange but do your rear speakers work?

Have you got electric windows in the rear? If so do they work?

No elec windows in the back, haven't noticed speakers in the rear, i too was thinking broken/chaffed wire between door and frame, just got to narrow it down to the culprit, if it is that.

Id check speakers in the rear and get a new fuse(id get a few)

Yes i agree, working blind at the moment without fuses, never know might put fuse in and everything will absolutely reek of roses, Yer right!!!!

I wouldnt hold your breath but you never know.
but I would say that theres probably a broken wire touching so pops the fuse as soon as you put it in.
but you could be lucky.

Update: New fuse fitted, no difference. Had all the main plugs off at the doors and pillars, all okay. No warning lights, no codes stored. Rear speakers working fine. Sync'ed key each time i have done something, no avail. Checked key for chip, it's in there. None of the doors lock electronically but all lock with ease manually. When button on key is pressed indicators flash once. switch engine off and i get a buzzing from columb until i take the key out, is this right?

Is someone able to confirm fuse no 13 is a 10A and is for Central Locking? Is there a relay some where? Is there a seperate ECU for Central Locking.
Don't want to strip each door if there is something else to look for first.
Help!!!!

I'm pretty sure it's a 10a fuse for central Locking and on the astras the central locking module is hidden behind the side cover where the bonnet catch is if you don't know it's drivers side the plastic that runs from the throttle pedal to the door behind is a box about 4x4 inches
