just given my car a full service, de restricted the air box and deleted the egr valve. It's running lovely and smooth now so wondering if there are any cheap mods to get some more bhp out the engine?

Not really, a K&N panel filter
Nothing else cheap

you can get a remap but thats only gonna give you about 12/15bhp @[deleted] has got a special offer on at the minute I think.

then after that yoy have 2 options maybe(we arnt 100% sure on 1 yet)

Supercharge it in anything but a vectra c or signum

or if all goes to plan with mine n you have a vectra c or signum is a turbo which if it works you should be able to do for less than 900quid.

Fair enough. Does the panel filter make much of a difference or are the standard ones upto the job?

I think i could tell but I mite have just been putting my foot down more but you would never have to replace it ever again either so thats a bonus

I got mine used for about 15quid n just cleaned it before fitting(I best clean mine again soon)

Im hopeing the turbo conversion will be a nice mod, including the mapping I should have done it for about 850, but thats the first 1 ever

And if it works should see 220bhp I think. Then I can go bigger turbo/injectorsand intercooler for more power. So mite open some doors up for others to follow.

Last car was a golf vr6 with 185bhp and 181 torque so this feels a bit slow to get going compared to the golf. But two totally different engines but really makes me miss the extra 2 cylinders. Gonna try and get the Astra on a rolling road in the new year and see what the engine is kicking out. Will go from there then

Supercharge it, easy job now can do it for about 1500quid, sounds alot but that noise is worth every penny.

Yeah it's a mk4 3door. That does sound a lot but only cause I paid £350 for the car ha ha

Smash out the pre cat that's free power, de cat or sports cat will free a few extra ponies too, a larger diameter exhaust will also help it breath better.
Removing the balancer shafts makes a noticeable difference but can only be done if the engine is removed from the car.

Would mine have a pre cat? Thought that was only pre 2002 engines that did? Also found a Hoffman race tube that deletes the middle box and bolts straight onto my irmscher back box. It's £35 delivered

Iv only got a small back box and no middle box, n no precat(mines a manicat)

As said.

Panel filter / de-restrict airbox / ported TB/ Intake pipe
No - precat / 4-1 Mani / sports cat / cat back and bigger down pipe
2.4 inlet manifold (maybe)
Cams
ECU remap (maybe)
Lightened Flywheel and balance delete
With all the above may get 20 ish Bhp

Then you will need to look at brakes / and a rear ARB with poly bushes and other suspension bits. 🙂
