Z22YH Tension Chain Bolt Help

Hi all
just replaced my timing and balance chains. Went for a test run and checked it and noticed oil sprayed everywhere to the rear of the engine, traced it to cam chain tension bolt seal. I tried to nip up but no joy, think it may be a faulty seal??
is there any specific way to fit these or do you just put it in and torque? if so what is the torque on this tension bolt please?

Thanks for the reply, any ideas why oil would be squirting out of the tensioner? could it only be a faulty seal?

What kit did u use? Gm? Fai?

Could just be the seal can't think of any other reason, maybe its not seated properly

Yes i believe so, it came with the kit. on the new one it can be removed. on my old tensioner bolt the seal cant be removed so would you think the seal is faulty or is it because its the nearer bolt prehaps?

Must be a faulty seal by the sounds of that!

I had a failed seal on the tensioner on fia kit i think @[deleted] may still have the video and photo's of it. It was faulty seal.

I used the Fai one. Phione ECP tonight to let them know that the seal may be faulty and they said they would replace it if that was the case but my engine bay is covered in oil... not impressed 🙁

Start the engine up and u see a jet of oil spraying out.

gutted after taking my time to fit the new balance and timing kit, cars running lovely now, also had to fit new continental Hp pump so cost me a bomb.
lets hope its the seal, i saw it squirting out and thought i'd nicked a pipe or something and was shocked when i saw it was passing the seal on the tension bolt

Well i was lucky as carl fitted my chains and i followed him to local petrol station, we said our good byes and as i drove off carl flagged me down as he saw the massive pool of oil on the forecourt i left. If he hadn't stopped me i would've of lost oil the oil within miles and bang.

yeah that sould like whats happing to me, so did new seal do the trick, wondering if i can trust another Fai seal now.

Carl fitted a GM tensioner and done 6k miles since chains and no issues whats so ever. Carl got the replacement fia tensioner and he fitted it to his other coupe and no issues.

No my drivers side is also protected for the winter! did you get another Fai tensioner? im taking it the washer seal isnt meant to come off the thread like my old tensioner?
