Its gm n i want 1 n its cheap enough. I have 45 quid left in the kittty for the build so al have that.
selling the last of the vectra donor parts saturday for £50 so thats abit back in the kitty, might have to put that in someones tank to help me fit it all. 😉

been offered a propper z22se lightened flywheel so im gonna try n get that in the next few days, if i can sell my z20let 1 in the meantime.

then its all systems gooo for the big build. n then maybe if i ever get a job i will be able to drive it lol

Cars gone to my mates unit yesterday, im pulling the engine today ready for the big rebuild.

just waiting on engine assembly lube and z22se lightened flywheel to arrive.

I will keep everyone updated. N i hope to be back on the road in it next week or so. 🙂

engines n box is out, timing chain off, rather slack for aprox 8000miles
not much different in gearboxes for dual and solid flywheel, output shaft is same length and bell housing is the same but the slave cylinder is about 15mm longer on the solid gearbox (i think or the other way round maybe)

anyway, so the plan tomorrow is sump n cradle off, balance chain off, crank out, new crank n bearings in, cradle n sump back on. thats about it cos iv got to be home early for my daughters birthday, shes so inconsiderate having a birthday when im busy

which chain did you have? thought you changed it for gm part?

Iv bought a full new gm timing chain. Left the fai balance chain with gm tensioner on.

Lightened flywheel n c20let clutch with astra f23 gearbox (first vectra c that i know of with solid flywheel 🙂 )

z22yh crank fitted.

so first test drive today.

primed everything up. N fired into life.

sounds smooth an idles great (balance shaft delete happened)

I have only drove it about a mile but it has sat
Idleing to let it get to temp and everything seems great.

i touch the throttle n revs so free n quickly.

I used assembly lube on the crank, do i need to drop the oil quite soon or what?

Al get pics n videos uploaded in the next few days. Iv got a few bits to do on the corsa next week so its been a busy few days 🙂

But to recap. I think i have the first vectra c z22se 2.2 with

Turbo
z22yh crank
and solid flywheel.

(If anyone knows any better let me know 😉 )

shocking how fast the pattern parts wear out!:eek:
will be under less strain now just running the water pump.
I would drop oil after 50miles then 500miles and again at 2000miles.
glad you saw sense and deleted balancers(y)

the worst timing chain I have ever seen was a 30k pattern kit, on a scale of 1-10 it was a 25 :eek:

The balance chain doesnt look bad n with it having a gm tensioner on i hope it will be ok.

pattern kit with 0k more stretch than gm chain with 117k! buy cheap buy twice! or 3-4 times! 🙁

Great to see all seems well! Exiting moments though those first few miles. Keep it in one piece and looking forward to the numbers she makes.

just ordered my fmic pipe work

got a toyosport fmic to fit hopefully next weekend and insurance next week aswell

mot due on 8th march so need insurance to sort that

once its insured i can do a few miles, drop the oil n filter and then again in500 miles n then i can fit my green injectors n remap 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

cars all insured, put around 50miles on the clock so far (2000revs is boring)

anyway a trip to my mates waynes in rotherham to fit this bad boy n to put a few more miles on it.

then when i hit 1000miles i will drop the oil and replace , then green saab injectors and remap. theni think im gonna need an exhaust

slowly, slowly best way, I would drop oil at 500 miles then go to 3.5k revs and drop again at 1k miles. driving to slow does as much damage to a new built engine as driving to fast.
