Hi from Australia,
I have two 2001/2002 model Z22SE Verts (Holden badged Opel/Vauxhall), with about 120k and 170k on the clock.
I believe Vauxhall recalled them in the UK at some stage and had a modified oil nozzle fitted to overcome timing chain breakage problems. I am told this did not happen with Holden in Australia! Good on you Holden :rage:!!
So I would like to do a minimum fix to hopefully prevent the timing chain jumping a tooth or breaking and so wrecking the engine. Minimum because the cars are not worth a lot of money here ($3000 will get you one), and spending a couple of thousand dollars on that part of the engine is just not viable.
My question is, can I get away just with new upgraded chain tensioners (balance chain and timing chain); Or must do chains and guides as well?
I don't know where the oil nozzle/s is but that too if it is not part of the tensioner.
Part numbers please so I can see that what I buy on Ebay is the correct parts.
Of course one can keep going with sprockets and water pump etc etc but the $$$ add up.
Intend to do the work myself, using the great guide provided on this site.
Thanks
