evocarlos none of them are closed so thats a yes to bent inlet valves not impossible to fix either 🙂 easy way to tell is look at the front edge of the pistons for contact marks 🙂 they wont be this clean but you get the idea
20vt Thanks for the replies. This is what my pistons look like, all damaged. All have the same damage. I was stripping the car anyway, so i'll probably rebuild the engine. Where do I buy new valves from?
evocarlos the pistons will be ok if they're not cracked i asked @[deleted] if he could get the valves some time ago maybe he could supply them ? you would also need 8 new valve guides as there sure to be cracked
20vt Matt said: Valves from FAI are £7 a piece, as opposed to the ones from GM at almost £50 a piece! Wow, only £7. Are they good quality or is it better just to get GM
Dave_Gilbert I cant see valves taking much hammer in a standard engine. You will need to reseat the new valves(im sure you know)which ever you buy and you will need new valve guides as they will probably be cracked. and while your there you should do the valve stem seals

Dave_Gilbert Should be able to get a good used complete head for about 100. Theres a z22 astra coupe in my local scrap yard. Head might be ok on that.
