VXR intake pipe part no's (instead of vec C)

Hi all

Just ordered a Astra VXR intake, to replace my vec c one, here are the details if anyone else wants one:

Suction pipe 5555 8368 £12.60
(the intake pipe)

(attachment pipe)

It arrives friday 😃

When it arrives i will post details about size, fitment etc

good stuff, I haven't done the Intake pipe mod yet to mine, if it looks better/gives better results than the Vectra C mod, I'll be giving this a go.

i read on astra-sport you have to trim the mouth of the pipe down, as it fouls the grill??? is this true?

Ive heard this too, if its true or not i dont know! Anyway is the veccy mod a proven mod in tems of BHP on the Astra? Would be nice to see if it does gain something on a RR!

I have just spent about 2 hours fiddling with the VXR pipe and my conclusion is.......................

Don't bother!

1.) its wont go on (the 2.2) without taking large parts of the engine off
(well i can't get it on!!)

2.) I used a vernier caliper and measured the standard, vectra C and the VXR pipe inlet dimension to workout the area. The VXR one looked slightly squahsed on the left side.

Standard:
L: 67 mm
H: 32 mm

Total area 2'144 mm2

VXR
L: 141 mm
H: 19 mm
Total area 2'679 mm2

Vectra C:
L: 124 mm
H: 31 mm
Total area <u>3'844</u>mm2

not worth the hassle from the looks of it,i have just finished a how to guide for a vccy c pipe will be on here monday along witht the others i have been working on. 😃

I think that the standard intake had a second feed from over the exhaust manifold which would be directly bellow it on the 1.8, 1.6 etc where the intake and exhaust are the oposite way round. Most cars have this to warm the engine quicker from cold. Once the intake temperature warms a wax thermostat in the infeed duct it would close off the warm air feed and take in cold air only. They probably designed this feature in at the early stages of production and after testing decided it wasnt needed and hence sealed up, giving it its rather strange shape. Maybe its used in colder climates?

Oh, and thankyou for the pictures! I dont think Il be bothering with the vxr intake. The veccy ones more than big enough.

I agree, untill something bigger is released that dosnt cost over £100!!!

I saw the Dblias intake fitted to a 1.8 and it is HUGE! its about 8" wide!!!
