adam91 Hi all I have a oil leak from what looks like it's dribbling down from behind the starter motor, any common issues or anything I need to look out for. Thanks in advance
evocarlos have a look at the oil filter cap see if its wet round there maybe need a new o-ring or i could be some thats been spilled when topping up
adam91 evocarlos said: have a look at the oil filter cap see if its wet round there maybe need a new o-ring or i could be some thats been spilled when topping up It appears to be coming from around the black sensors area but can't pin point exactly where
Dave_Gilbert Isnt that the oil pressure switch? Really common to leak out the end of them on the corsa so could be an common and easy fix.
adam91 flatbeat said: Might the the copper o ring on the sensor Il replace that tommorow although it seems dry around the sensor
adam91 rushy said: Or possibly a crack in the oil filter cap where? That's what I first hoped but all is bone dry around that area
adam91 flatbeat said: It could be the sensor its self Worst fear confirmd today it's the crankshaft seal leaking out were the starter bolts in and seeping along the sump :-(
Dave_Gilbert Crankshaft oil seal on the gearbox side? Oh dear thats going to be a time consuming job. I assume the gearbox will ha e to come off for that job?
IDI_AMIN Dave Gilbert said: assume the gearbox will ha e to come off for that job? No dave just the driveshaft if it is the rear oil seal needing replaced , still a fairly easy job.
Dave_Gilbert Oh thats good then. Mine on the chain side was leaking slightly (didnt know) carl spotted it when doing the chains but it was a sunday and really stuggled to get 1 so just cleaned it up n had to refit. It seams fine.
IDI_AMIN Well never done one on a vectra , but done one on an Astra i think it is the same idea anyway But looking on google i could be wrong
flatbeat Yes it's gearbox off job clutch and bmf You are best off replacing the flywheel bolts the oil seal is about a 10er but it's a days job to get to it
Dave_Gilbert Probably worth doing the clutch then wile your there Depending on the mileage. Fucker of a job for probably a 5quid seal.
evocarlos tbf tho the bottom of the gear box is normally wet with oil when the rear seal has gone looking at the pic theres plenty off oil been coming from above that now has dirt stuck to it has the engine been degreased to see the real spot of the leak ?
