Window Wipers not working

Last night went to turn on wipers , Not working realised fuse was blown, went to put in replacement and as i was pressing in to place it sparked and obviously blew as well so still no wipers front or back was wondering what the cause is as i am a little stumped what is causing this . Usually there is a little warning sign that something is going wrong beforehand
All i can think of is maybe a broken wire or something like that if anyone has any suggestions to the cause of my dilemma i am all ears.

If its killing fuses as soon as its being put in, I would say a broken wire touching the body or an earth.

I had this with zafira rear door wiring

Cool Dave, It does sound logical a broken wire , i was thinking that myself or maybe water getting in somewhere . All other functions on the stalk are working properly like mpg, trip distance etc ,etc
Not quite sure where to look maybe under the bonnet at wiper motor or something , And can't really be arsed to be honest, just hope it doesn't rain in next couple of days
Was kind of hoping someone could solve this one for me to save me thinking too much
Strange front and rear wipers don't work they must be connected in some way . I will have a quick look under bonnet . Hopefully the answer is staring me in the face

I would say the power to both will be linked. So 1 fuse does both wipers so it doesnt really help you find the brake in the wire.

Check there's no moisture in the plug or anything, had this cause similar issues elsewhere in the past

Never had that problem before hopefully an easy fix maybe tomorrow afternoon very likely broken wire or moisture all other functions on the stalk work fine so it is isolated to wiper functions only hope it doesn't rain on the way home from work

Got to the root of the problem
If you are ever in this position then it means the wiper motor is pumped. I disconnected the front wiper motor and put in another fuse it blew again ,so i disconnected the rear wiper motor tried another fuse in , it never blew, reconnected the front wiper motor and it was working .🙂

Luckily this was while i was outside breakers yard before i went to dismantle a front one and buy. It was a rather wet day this afternoon so saved me a little soaking . Feet copped it though as trainers are falling apart. Will go back on a dry day

Thanks Dave. I still went in to get a bumper trim on a vw passat for someone i work with. Thus the wet feet
