tapping noise

So I've renewed my cam and balance chains and now have a tap for a couple of seconds on cold start up and also at high revs in first gear when warm. Any ideas people??

It is possible the tensioner is not properly activated
Was that a one off or how the engine is all the time

Now you can hear a faint tapping continuously, its not bad but it is there and the engine management light has now come on.

I am pretty sure i activated the tensioner as i had topush it in hard while i screwedit up and i heard it rest on the guide.

Am thinking its maybe a cracked manifold (which might cause thelambda sensor o mis read and put the management light on).

Or someting more serious like timing out or tappets gone, but it all looked good when it went back together!

If the tapping noise was not there before you changed your timing chains,but you have it now then this indicates you have went wrong somewhere in the process of installing new chains

check around engine area for anything loose swinging around ,and your manifold for a crack, i do not think this would cause tapping but worth checking out, it is the only way to eliminate all possibilities then you are left knowing if the noise comes from inside or outside engine
