Swirl flaps can they be cleaned

Can swirl flaps be cleaned or is it a case of replacing the whole manifold as thats what was explained to me by the machanic at my taxi garage (Im a taxi driver)
How much would the whole thing cost and is it an £bay job. I need this car for work. 2008 vec c 2.2 petrol. Cheers ajn

You can just buy a kit to replace the flaps mate, no need for a new manifold. As a taxi Driver aren't you eligible for trade club prices at the dealer? Also try Autovaux.

Yes mate your right we do get some discount. These kits seem a bit expensive. £bay got a few complete manifolds from £60 to £85 delivered, tested and clean. I just want the car driveable to work. It starts 1st time from cold soon as I try to drive off lumpy throaty wont rev up past about 4000 revs harder to start when hot. Sprayed the carb cleaner in through air intake on about 4000 revs still the same didnt get any smoke through the rear end mind just two wet patches on the floor. Ajn

Its not your fpr or HP pump is it? A failing HP pump will get you up to about 3500 rpm or untill you flaw it then die/go into limp. Another failoor point in the fpr (furl pressure regulator, the fpr seams to start having problems when its hot. There was a recall for the fpr and the furl pump is a very very common problem, BBC watchdog even did a segment about it. You don't get any codes as well which makes it harder to find the problem.

I changed to fuel pump (side of the engine) with a so called recon as my car was suffering these problems mentioned above, Ive never changed the regulator, i just unplugged it and run it with a slight miss. What I need is some one with a bit of time to get it on a code reader delete codes then restart see what happens after that to see if the same codes pop up. Thing is everyone is in such a rush these days. Any idea of a cheap code reader which will do the job, as its a taxi they dont get much nursing and then soon as it goes wrong we moan like hell. This sticking swirl flap arm dont look very promising though amongst the fueling system.

Opcom mate. Ebay, there copy's but they show you everything. When I get home I'll link you to a trusted seller, he's a trader on a few Vx forums. Its uploaded onto your laptop and you plug the lappy into your car.

You can also reset and read engine codes with a free android app called Torque but you also need the Bluetooth interface, they cast about £13, search you tube for torque app vids.
