Is a catchtank really needed?

Is there any reason why I can't just block off the cam cover and inlet pipe to stop oil getting into the pipe and throttle body or does it absolutely need to breathe meaning I'll have to either let it drop on the floor or fit a catchtank?

once you blank the egr normal driving should clear the oil

Yea, my manifold cleaned itself up just from blanking the EGR.

I've got a catch tank and egr delete and it's pointless lol need to take it off really

No I didn't mean the egr delete which I do have,I mean the 6 inch breather hose that goes from the cam cover to the induction pipe between the air filter and the throttle body,i'm getting oil in there and I wanted to know if i can just remove the hose and blank off the cam cover and the induction pipe?

I fitted an oil catch tank as I had the same thing but now there's no oil in the air pipe but no oil in the catch tank either..
you can't block it up it needs to be there.
