Automatic gearbox problem

Hi everyone. Seem to have yet more trouble with the car lol. When the car is hot and you come to a stop I.e traffic lights car is still in drive with foot on brake.after say 30 secs or so the car jolt forward as if it's changed down a gear but really throws the car. Car doesn't actually jolt forward it just feels like it lol, I changed the gearbox oil due to this thinking its probably never been changed, the oil that came out was black, new oil hasn't changed a thing, is there a common fault with these or am I looking at a new gearbox, car has only done 82k, Amy help or tips appreciated many thanks

Don't know much about these autos but i do know that you may have to change the oil a few times as you can't get all the oil old out in one go, you have to drive it for about 30 miles i think, in effect you are flushing it through with clean oil. can i ask what the oil type is and where did you get it, no one near me stocks it apart from the dealer.

You will need to change the oil a few times as the torque converter holds oil so in effect you only ever change half the oil. Cant remember which box is in that one but some had an internal filter that could be changed, it depends whether you can remove the autobox sump or not. Once you refilled the oil did you bleed it through the gears to make sure it all circulated?

Hi mate. I have changed the oil twice now and still the same however I.did not realise there may be a filter. Do you know where the gearbox codes are so I can find out, thanks for your reply

I don,t know the code, but I remember the auto boxes on the omegas used to have a sump under the auto box, the one in the astra does not have the sump so the filter cannot be replaced. I don't know what is on the vectra.

Think the vectra uses the same box if it's not down to the oil it might be one of the clutches inside the box sticking

Just found this not sure it's the same fault as yours

Also have a look at your exhaust heat shield if it's very loose it can interfere with the
Gearbox input and out put sensors

Go back to your dealer with the TIS number at the bottom of page.

AF23/33 Transmission - No Driving Torque Because Of Cooling Water In Transmission

Option: AF23/33 Transmission

In isolated cases the customer complains of a loss of drive and the following symptoms may be diagnosed:

Failure codes P0700, P0715 or P0720 set
Slight loss of cooling water
Sediment in coolant expansion tank

This is caused by improper function of the seal ring at the oil cooler connection, which can cause the penetration of a small quantity of cooling fluid into the transmission oil.

An improved oil cooler / radiator has been introduced in production as of the following VINs:

Russelsheim - W0L0ZCF3541042598
Ellesmere Port - W0L0ZCF6848035197

In case of customer complaint, rework vehicles as described in Customer Satisfaction Program 06-R-016 (Vectra-C, Signum - Radiator) and Special Policy Program 06-P-017 (Vectra-C, Signum - Transmission Ventilation Hose).

Additionally it is essential to perform the following action:

Clean oil cooler hoses by compressed air
Flush oil cooler with approximately 200 ml ATF
Coolant to be checked (e.g. ATF in coolant expansion tank) and to be replaced if necessary
