I've been registered for quite a while now, but never introduced myself. So more than due that I said hello!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather.

These days I'm driving around in an early 2002 Astra 2.2 Bertone coupe. I got it pretty stock, besides Eibach springs, a K&N or Pipercross panel filter and a painted (and peeling centre dash surround). I've since changed a few things, mainly added some carbon wrapped trims and new gear gaiter (I'm yet to fit the handbrake gaiter and still have several other trims to fit).

Anyway, some pictures:

A Irmscher carbon handbrake handle and gear knob would finish it off lovely. Need a new Bertone badge as well (though I might be able to save the old one). I'm undecided on whether to refit the heater dial rings, what do you all think?

You have a great forum here, and although I've been silent I've enjoyed reading posts and new threads.

So overall, a very long overdue hello! 🙂

Thanks Matt. I'll try and keep up. We'll see how far this one goes -- I'm kept pretty busy with work these days, so not a lot of time to be ripping things apart. All of the carbon trims I've amassed sat in a box for over two months before I found the time to open and fit some of them.

I've wanted a 2.2 Astra Coupe for years, so just enjoying it for now. Maybe more drastic mods will come later, not decided yet.

I have to say I was thinking the same thing, as well as maybe going for the GSi/Turbo gear knob for the same reason. Thank you for the welcome Dave.

i went abit more subtle with my astra
i painted the centre consol to match the star silver outside and had a black leather with red stitching to match the black and red recaro sxi seats.

That sounds lovely. I still have the rings attached to the old trim, so I'll have a look at removing them later.

About to head outside to remove the surround again as the heater controls aren't working correctly since fitting the new trims. If that goes well I may just add the rings as well.

Yeah, the old trims were scratched and marked to hell and seeing every time I was in the car really grated on me. I must confess the dash itself also bears marks from previous attempts at removing the trims as well, but it'll be staying where it is for now.

I fitted most of the remainder of the carbon trims I had previously ordered today as well, including new A pillar trims -- I can't believe how much darker it feels with these over the lighter beige coloured ones!

Finished fitting the handbrake gaiter now as well. Couple more pictures to wet the appetite...

Really hope I can find that cubby box to fill the hole in my dash soon, it's such an eyesore!

Then I just need a Bertone badge, GSI/Turbo gearknob and a new set of heater dial rings (and maybe some white heater dials (to match the instrument cluster). The ones I took off the old dash surround are scratched pretty badly, so not going to refit those.

Are you going to be looking for a full interior to match the blue bits you've already fitted?

I was looking at leather gaiters to begin with but I just couldn't find any that weren't tacky as hell, or look really badly stitched. I wanted something that stood out against the dark carbon trims and I remember seeing the Astra 888's usage of blue, and with that also being my favourite colour, I thought what the heck and got them. So ordered a set of alcantara one's on eBay -- don't recall price but it wasn't too bad and they were cut just right so fitting them was a doddle.

I must confess I'd love that interior Matt, but the cost is off-putting and I have to be honest and say I haven't yet seen a good set for sale at realistic money. If one comes along, I'd be tempted though!

i agree, id love them seats but there not cheap.

iv got (i think) mk1 astra gte seats fitted in the mini, well not fitted any more the cars in a thousand pieces
