I own a 2001 vectra b. Estate 2.2. I know it's a z22se engine.

It's been written off due to rear damage (boot lid and taillight only) was going to cost £1700 to repair by the insurer.

It's now a cat d write off. I'm not sure weather to offer it as parts or repair it and get it back on the road myself.

I didn't buy it back it was left with me. They offered to scarp it and keep the cash.

It's 112k miles. I've just called the company who wrote it off and it's a cat c write off.

cat c may need a vic test to put back on the road(which isnt a big deal, its about £40 i think) all they do is check what was damaged has been repaired or replaced correctly.

Ok. The current charge for a vic check is £41.

For parts it will cost me £35.

Then do I need to get it mot'd again ?

i think the mot will run from the last one, lets say u moted the car the day before the accident you can drive it as it is(well fix it so no water gets in) upto the next mot before you have to vic test it as it cant be moted again without the vic.

Mot will be fine uncles was worse than that he just pushed the dent out just replace the boot pal

my mate had a cat d peugeot that needed a new rear door apparently but he didnt do anything with it n passed the vic.
