rough idle and misfiring

hiya guys im new to the forum pleasure to be here

i have a problem with my 2.2 coupe
engine z22se

it idle between 500-800rpm

and has adopted a new misfire in second and 3rd gear

i change the spark plugs 3 weeks ago
gapped them the same as the GM ones i took out
fitted a open cone induction kit

then it started doing it

this thurs im cleaning the throttle body out and egr valve

any info o nthis problem would be appreciative

I had an issue of my coupe having a misfire at cruising speeds. It didnt kick the engine light on to record a fault and the misfires could last anything from couple seconds to 30 secs. I ended up changing the fuel filter as it was the cheap option and the black shit that came out of it was a shock, the coupe has ran perfect ever since and changed it. Hope this helps

The idle speed is fine if it's below 800 rpm
if I were you I'd put the standard air box back on with a panel filter as cone filters a known to be crap on 2.2s and may even be causing a bigger flat spot in 2nd and 3rd
if it's still the same with the standard air box then yeah check or blank the egr valve clean throttle body and go from there

cheers guys ive just ordered a brand new air box to put back on
ill let you know of my updates on thurs once ive put the airbox back on and cleaned the throttle body and checked the egr

also intend on putting some adjustable coilovers on on thurs (due to sliding on roundabouts lol heavy footed) so fingers crossed it sorts it out putting the airbox back on

the coil overs won't help with the sliding round islands try putting air in your tires 🙂

lol funny you should say that i aired them up 2 weeks ago in the front 32psi checked last night and they was on 16psi 😮 trip to bush i think

try 36 in the front and 32 in the rear 🙂 sounds like you need to get them resealed 🙂

and coil overs I have them with 18s and let's just say cracked wheels and plenty of 30 mph and if your thinking your not going that low then springs are the way forward anyway.

It's personal choice at the end of the day but unless you get really expensive coil overs they really aren't what there made out to be.

ok guys so blanked egr off today (pic attached) when i started up after doing so it adopted a splutter on idle its like being on a bus when its idle on the plus side the misfiring as gone 🙂 so after doing that i cleaned the throttle body god that was mucky , i see there was some oil in the manifold is this normal or is it leaking

so after a whole day of trying to get this rough idle sorted ive done it my mate gapped my plugs for me a few weeks back and one plug was 1mm out so ive regapped them all today and put the egr back on and its perfect cleaning the throttle body has sorted idle revs out it now sit at a nice 750 one tip when checking spark on plugs try not to leave the chamber open we had 2 massive fire balls from the engine lol was quiet scary and a allmighty bang
