I went to the rolling road on Saturday and after going on the rollers the bloke explained that although my car got upto 150.8 BHP that it was taking longer than it should to do it. I was disappointed to find out that although I have put in K&N panel, removed the pre-cat fitted a remus straight through middle pipe and a MAGNEX back box, which did improve speed,but that this only added 5BHP to the standard of 145. Any suggestion on what might be the problem and were I can look. He advised a remap on Saturday but Im reluctant to do this and still not get the best out of the car if theres likely to be another problem holding it back. Any help greatfully accepted. :cry: :?

Andy coupe went for the remap after you had left and gained over 10bhp..

Seems strange that we have the same mods and differnt figures..

Before you make perform any mods, its a good idea to do an initial power run
so you can set a base line.

My car was 4 bhp down on standard!

Bazs car has just got a panel filter and it pulled 156..so thats a good standard figure..

BARNSLEY DAVE did his run, and he was only doing 133bhp, so he was over 10bhp down on standard. His was down to having nearly 130k miles on the clock, what sort of milage have you got on the Vectra sri2.2est?

Other things that come into consideration are tyre pressures and clutch condition, spark plugs and we were also advised on the type of coolant that we are using.

Dyno runs in the morning are allegeded to be better due to the dense air.

don't worry Daz, you aint the only one with 120k on the clock.

when mine was on the rollers last year it had about 110k and still managed 162bhp with a blowing zorst.

I only got 41K on the clock and its only 5 months into its last full service. Not sure on coolant tho I know he said on Saturday that old coolant can reduce output by 30%.

Mine only managed 144 BHP before the map and my mods are cat back system, pre cat removed, panel filter and veccy pipe.
Now with the remap it peaked 155 BHP.
Im a little unsure about how the RR tests were done... look at the guy with the modded Zafira, he around 6 runs on the rollers and had a different read out each time, it ranged from 180-199 BHP notsure.gif Also the guy running the cars kept on saying to the other one at the screen "increase by 11 or decrease by 10" but not sure what all that was about.

Suppose you just have to take their word for it. I know what you mean though, as they can adjust stuff on their sensors to make the readouts look different. One thing I did find strange, is that they didn't actually realise they all had the same engine!

If you have a look at your graphs, near the bottom it has power at the wheels! Mine before the map was 116 BHP after the map it was 114 BHP but the car pulls miles better than it did before notsure.gif

hmm, thats why I'm a bit suprised with some of the results. Exact same cars, with exact same mods, with 5bhp difference.

He mapped mine but not sure if it was off the shelf or a 3D map. He had is lap top hooked up to the car while on the rollers and altered the settings between runs, on the 2nd run it ran 167 BHP but he said it was too advanced and needed backing off a little. I think he mus have been refering to the timing. Car feels alot better now though.

3D cost a bit more and are specific to your car and your mods ( no car is ever the same no matter if on paper they look the same). With 3d the car is usually run quite a few more times than a standard remap. He might have ment that you can have more BHP but to the detriment of the drivability and torque. A guy on vectra c had his 3.2 up to 256 bhp on chipped rollers and could have gone for more but the peak power was in a very small band so would have actualy been slower if he increased the bhp. You can have a lower bhp and be faster due to the power being spread over the band if you see what I mean.
