vauxhall vectra 2.2 sri direct won't rev over 4000rpm on hard acceleration, HELP

hi guys

so the pump turned up

i fitted the pump and oh my god it worked i'm over the moon and jumping for joy

i can see now that on my old pump the tiny little hole at the bottom of the pump u could see the black seal where as on my new one you cant see it so check on your pumps to see if this has happened if you can see the seal then i guess the pump is f****d

you need to take the pump off and put it in the upside position

look at the round metal bit of the casing which has a tiny hole in the centre of it

if you can see the black rubber seal when looking at it then its been pushed off its seating and cant be replaced as this part is sealed inside the unit

Ive got my pump off as I replaced it with a so called reconditioned pump. Yeah the black rubber seal is visible through the tiny hole at the metal round base of the pump, how much was yours cheers ajn

the company i brought it from is called

1st choice car spares and their number is 01254 386 541

all their part are tested before sending them out

I bought a recon pump off eBay, the original pump is the one I've checked for the seal at the tiny hole. Maybe the recon pump isn't to good. Ajn

check it for the same thing and let me know what you find as i don't he reconditions that part of the pump.

Yes sorry for the delay the recon pump has no seal present at the tiny hole, the original pump which came of has. Cheers ajn

maybe one of the 3 diaphrams inside have failed

when u floor it from idle does it rev to around 3000/4000 revs and not go any higher but hold ?

Yeah spot on, however if the excelerator is pressed slowly to the floor it will go to whatever 1000 revs with out a problem, yet pressed sharply or suddenly its missing uneven idle until restarted. Ajn

its 100% the high pressure fuel pump,send your recon pump bk to them and get your money bk

mine was exactly the same as yours

if u press the accelator softly it revs right round but if u floor it it sits between 3000/4000 revs

change the pump again mate and let me know how u get on

Totally agree with that, classic PH pump failure symptoms.

the z22se is not direct injection so has no HP fuel pump
if the ecu puts the engine in to limp mode there will be a stored code pinpointing the problem
