Replaced vectra b 2.2 timing chain won't start

Just fitted a new chain kit to Vectra b - won't start. It was running before I removed the rocker cover.

Stripped down again -- check rebuilt -- still won't start. Done the same job last year -- started after a few try's.

Just won't fire. Any ideas?

Refitted the earths and plugged everything back in?

as above did you bolt the earth strap to the rocker cover ?
any backfires ?

No back fires,all plugs and earth refitted.
Before removing chain removed rocker cover and found slack chain. Put cover on to move car across drive wouldn't start then,but thought it was just slack chain. Must have disturbed something. Found fuel return pipe slack nipped up still won't start

do you have fuel pressure at the test port ?
and do you have a compression test just to check it ?

did you align the cams on cylinder four - nearest the gearbox or on cylinder 1 nearest the chains ?

Lined up on number 1---approx 11 o'clock. 1 o'clock ---- also chain was marked

What about fuel relay could be duff or your alternator did you disconnect that

Fuel pump runs when ingnition is turned on. Never disconnected alternator.

One thing I did notice, the earth strap was on the wrong side of the stud screwed into the rocker cover. Althoungh I don't think that would matter. But corrected anyway. Could be the strap as it was running before removing rocker top

The starter give up last time I tried.
I have another vectra b,so I will borrow starter off it on sat.

I fitted new chain about 12m ago without any problem, infact very lucky as it snapped while starting engine.
This time the tensioner rail pastic snapped. Daughters been putting topping up with wrong oil

Still won't start. Could the cams be wrong even though they are keyed. From Tdc looks as though it's opening inlet valves when it should be exhausting.
