full engine re build

Hi all please move this to the right place if it is in the wrong area.

I am taking my engine out and will be doing a full rebuild as I am looking at the piston rings which I think are worn out.
I am just wondering is there anything I should be replacing with none 2.2 engine parts like the cam or piston. I have done a similar thing with a cavalier but not sure on the 2.2 any help and experienced is a massive help Thank you.

Just so i include everything this is a 2002 vauxhall vectra Sri 2.2 petrol and has 130k on the clock.

Depending how 'full' of a rebuild you are planning it might be more cost effective to get a new saab b207 off neo brothers if they are still available. £417+vat I think they were.

with that kind of mileage it will be worth checking bore wear and ovallity. may need a rebore. also check crank journals, oil pump, cam shafts with followers, valve lifters, valve guides, chains will need to be replaced, water pump. as already said it would be cheeper to find another engine.

I have time on my hands to work on it and a 2nd car to get to work. I haven't heard of the saab engine really anything i should know.

What power out put will i get?
How much do i need to change or is pretty much the same set up?
also on another note i have been looking around but can't find any info, is there a turbo i can put on either the z22 or the saab.

am in pretty deep to the vectra so it is going no where and will be mine for a very long time to come.

saab b207 is a 2.0 turbo version of the vauxhall 2.2 (z22se)i think.

if i had a vectra B i would supercharge it

I thought i would have an easy repair or replace with another 2.2 but now the saab interests me 🙂 but I need to know about the wiring loom mounting points gearbox etc i am doing this at home without a huge array of tools so need to be realistic with what i can achieve.

Oh and mine is a vectra c would that not allow for a supercharge?

i wanted to do mine so rang them and they just said no, a vectra c has 12 ecus and a vectra b has 2. there are other companies like boost junkie thatmight be worth an ask.

Hmm mm just been reading the thread on the new saab engine build and wow i don't understand so much but would really love a engine built like that to slide in to my baby wonder how much it would cost for someone to build it for me to fit lol or should I start a different dream now :sleep:

🙂 it was the b207r @ £714 then paid £25 for a saab starter and £25 for a genuine gm tensioner £40 shipping
the crank ,pistons and rods cost more than the new engine lol

yeh but thats not 100% needed depending on the power wanted.

if i was building 1 for me i would just go to around 250bhp so not to much on standard parts(to save on costs)
