Precat & flexi

Hi chaps,

Im back in a 2002 vectra c sri (z22se) engine. Got a few questions i need help with. Does the car have a precat? I want to get it drilled out to free up some power. Also the flexi is blowing and ive seen you can just buy the flexi on ebay? Anyone got any good recommendations on sellers? What size/length do i need?

i think its just a cat in the manifold then flexi(i got mine off ebay and been good for about 2 years) then a stainless system which is just a pipe to a powerflow backbox(this is why i say i think theres just the cat in the manifold n no pre cat but dont quote me on it as im not 100%

they all had pre cats up untill 2004 so id presume yours has one yes. im not sure about the flexi but you can buy the bits im just unsure on the sizes @[deleted] is the man that knows 🙂

2002-2003 they stop fitting the precats due to them causing the cracked manifolds
the only real way to tell if your in sure is drop the down pipe and look

theres no issue getting a flexy from ebay then getting someone to weld it in 🙂

I know mines a 2004 engine and I've looked it has no pre cat thank god lol

Thanks for the advice gents, I will get the mechanic to check the precat when I get him to weld the flexi in. Does anyone have any good recommendations for a seller on ebay. I can find the flexi for the z22se but its only for the vectra b.

Not sure on exact size but any decent weld in flexi something like this

For £30 it may just be cheaper to buy this then get someone to weld in a new flexi?

That's a bargain tbh so be cheaper just to buy that than buy a flexi and then pay someone to weld it in

thats the flexi i bought around 2 years ago, as far as i know its all good still(its not blowing anyway)

No precat on the vec c mate, its a manicat, then downpipe, then flexie. The link below is the clamp in flexi I got, there cheaper on ebay but my paypal is locked 🙁 Try and get a slightly shorter one, I had to cut my downpipe down a bit to fit this.

PS it will clamp up but if you can, try and get it welded in.

Hi rushy, thanks for the link. Im going to get the full replacenent i linked above from ebay. At £30 itll be cheaper to buy this then get a flexi welded in. Ive contacted the seller and he has confirmed it will fit mine.

I managed to place an order yesterday for the item below chaps:

The items turned up this morning, but im somewhat dissatisfied with the item. I appreciate this cost only £30, but the welds on this look like they've been done by a blind person. Am I being unreasonable guys? What do you think? Doesnt look like it will last very long

What do you think guys? Shall I return it and pick one up from Eurocar parts? IUsing a discount code I can get it for approx £48.

why dont u go to euro n have a look at 1.

im sure it will have 2 year warrenty so if it fails within 2 years u can gey a new 1. its only 30mins to fit.

Ive just done that dave and the euro one is similar. Looks like they were being welded while blindfolded. Im just going to get the one above fitted. Has got 2 years warranty so if it dies il get another.

On a side note my tyres decided it wants to mate with a nail thus releasing all the air. New tyre time too! Good start to the bank goliday weekend for me

Shocking welding but tbh most exhausts are like that now days, even miltek stuff looks like it was done blindfolded using there feet and that's top dollar stuff

Good to know dewis. I was just under the impression that it was like that because its such a cheap part.
