Hi. Been a vectra fan for a few years now. Recently bought a 2006 2.2 Direct with a jumped timing chain. Slowly rebuilding head and engine myself. Didnt realise how fragile these engines can be.

there pretty strong engines 🙂
just keep up with the regular oil and filter changes 3-5k miles i still put problems down to people leaving the service intervals to long it is metal on metal after all 🙂

Hi. Thanks for the welcome guys. When i stripped head off all inlet and four of the exhaust valves were bent so will be replacing all. I did notice that on the chain tensioner rail the plastick backing had snapped into three pieces. Have you ever heared of this and maybe kno what causes it?

have not seen the plastic backing on the tensioner rail break yet but the front rail after 70k miles go brittle
normal scenario is the front rail disintegrates then the extra slack in the chain cause it to jump some teeth then valves get bent
when you repair the head be sure to replace the inlet valve guides on the inlet valves that are bent they will be cracked

Taken out all of the valves and examined what i can see of the balve guide in the inlet port and cant see any visible cracks. Guy who i bought car off said it slipped chain when tryin to start it. Didnt turn it over again.

there tiny cracks but if you have bent inlet valves the guides will be cracked that i can guarantee 100%

they look like this when they get a good smash from the piston

Hi. Do i need a specialist tool to remove the injectors?

no there just pushed in to the head they may be stuck in as the o'rings stick to the holes making them hard to get out
undo the 2 bolts holding the rail to the head then pull the rail with injectors out

to remove the injectors from the rail just push the clip off then pull the injector out the rail

Ahhh. The fuel rail has come off but injectors are still in the head. Is there a kit to replace the steel and blue clips?

are the clips there ?
the injectors are held to the rail with metal clips and dont normally come out without removing the clips

Yeah got the clips but the blue bits are mangled.

Shaped bit like a horse shoe made of blue plastic.
