still got a slight rattle? ?

Hi. I've just finished replacing both chains and cylinder head on my zafira. Everything was going well. I turned the key and it started first time and sounded perfect. I let it run for a while this morning to get the engine up to temperature and after about 5 minutes there was a very slight noise from the chain area but only above 2000 rpm. At idle there is no noise at all. Does it need to be stripped down again? Or is there anyone near Hastings that could lend a hand? Our baby is due any time now and need to get this car on the road....panic!!!

if the engine has been started and did not spontaneously self destruct then it will have activated itself once oil pressure was up 🙂

I did lock the tensioner in before fitting. It start pushing against the guide as I tightened it up. It runs fine but I'm worried about this clicking noise? If I'd fitted the chain wrong surely it would have died almost straight away?

Might sound strange but I had a slight ticking noise after @[deleted] changed mine. Changed the aux belt as it was noticed at chain change time that it was past its best and the ticking stopped

i had a noisy bearing on the belt tensioner evocarlos greased it up n its ok now, it could be the alternator bearing(mine was rattling like a gooden) thought it was the chains so replaced them then fired it up n the noise was still there, so £18 alternator and the noise was gone.

The noise sounds like its coming from the top of the engine near the cam sprockets? I'm not sure what to do about it? I'm going to take the rocker cover off and check for any slack. Also when I was running it the fan didn't cut in and the temperature gauge didn't move but I'm guessing thats the thermostat or sender unit? I've done so much work on the engine and just want it finished now. I appreciate all your help
