cheaper egr valves

Does anyone know if the egr valves from the omega 2.2's will fit vectra b 2.2's.
From what i've seen on ebay they are a lot cheaper but do look slightly different.
If they are different then I cant understand why,you'd think it would be more cost effective to just use one type!

The Omega 2.2's a different engine's there pig iron not Alloy like our z22SE's so i'd imagine there different. Why not just blank your EGR, the clubs shop sells both the blanking plate and the cheater to keep your ECU happy.

I will do that eventually but I need a quick fix so I can do my shifts saturday eve & sunday day.
I'll have to get a new valve in the morning,hoping to get a pattern one from my local factors.
Does anyone know how much pattern ones are?

Tbh I doubt you will pull a pattern part off the shelf without pre order cost anywhere from £100, much better to blank it and get a cheater as already said.

Do you know how long it takes to receive one from the shop,my boss is going to want to know how long i'm going to miss work for.

Is the car not drivable at all? Surely with a dodgy EGR you have rough running and in limp mode.

Will tick over ok,but when I go to pull away it really holds back & runs rough until about 4k revs when it seems ok but I cant drive around at 4k all the time.
Also get a bit noisy when it does it.
I took the egr valve off & cleaned it & was allright for a couple of days but is now coming back.
Also cleaned throttle body at same time.

Can have the EGR cheater out on Monday, but I need to get some more blanking plates bought from VX. Should be able to get them Monday as well all being well.

Thanks but I have put in an order with you on ebay now & ordered a blanking plate from another guy who looks like he's into his vauxhalls (he has a btcc cav as his ebay icon).
C.A.F. Did have an egr on the shelf but cost £110.43 trade +vat.
Thanks for the help guys,i just hope it is the egr thats the problem.

You could do the old coke can trick to see if the EGR is stuck open. Just cut your own thin plate from a can and sandwich it in between the port on the head and the pipe to the manifold. Its not a full time fix but should work till you get the proper plate through.

That was a great bit of advice rushy,thanks,it seems to be running fine atm.
Does anyone know if the exhaust gasses are hot enough to eventually melt the can metal(was aluminium can)?

No probs, I believe they do blow through hence why its only a temp fix mate. So now you know its deffo the EGR thats goosed.

I'm hoping that it will last a seven hour shift tomorrow then if i'm lucky the cheater & plate will turn up monday.

Ok,new problem,after doing a few hours of my shift my vec started holding back again so I assumed that the can had blown thru.
I removed the pipe only to find it was completly intact.
So does this mean that its not the egr valve thats at fault after all.
I have tried reading the codes but the car wont respond to either type of pedal test!

Getting a bit fed up with this now as I paid top money for a low mileage example so I wouldnt have to keep doing things to it.

Ok,i didnt bother testing the valve because the blanking plate turned up today so fitted that whilst leaving the valve pluged in & cable tied to the engine hoist eye but its still hanging back.
Went to local garage to have the codes read which were multiple cylinder missfire,egr flow too high,egr too low & something about an imobaliser prob.
I should point out that I didnt do the plate till after I had the codes read so I can ignore the egr codes.
Could all this be the coil pack,could it have anything to do with the fact that I have a small crack in plug no.4,is there any thing else that might be causing it,this is a big problem now.

Ok,so it was to do with the cracked head,water retajned by the rubber plug cover on the coilpack had badly rusted no.4 ht post.
Cleaned it all up & changed the plugs & it seems to be cured.
