I have an Astra Coupe and upto now has been pretty reasonable, however it has recently discovered a thirst for oil and manages to consume 1ltr per 100 mile or there about!!!
I'm quite confident it's burning it rather than leaking it as there's no obvious signs of oil leakage in the engine bay. It does smell of burning oil but with the amount it consumes I'd expect a large blue cloud behind me, all I seem to get it a puff of smoke when revved hard, or after overrun downhill etc as soon as I touch the pedal I get a cloud of smoke for a few seconds then it disappears.
All this is leading me to think the stem seals are well passed it and possibly worn rings.
Is there anyone on here who lives in or is willing to travel to Wiltshire (Nr Chippenham) to help with the repairs?
Although I'm not scared of getting my hands dirty I would prefer to have some help at hand, I have an engine crane and a large selection of tools, I'd just prefer to have help from someone who's carried out this sort of repair before. While the engine is stripped id be looking to change the rings and timing chain as well.
