Changing stereos

I am changing stereos soon any hidden nasty surprises waiting for me?
Or any tips welcome?

you will lose the text on the display and the wheel controls unless you get the parts to make them work
the red and yellow (switched and constant +12v) are reversed on vauxhalls so when fitting your new stereo use the bullet connectors to swap them over

I just thought. it has an after market stereo already display and wheel controls work fine hopefully will have necassery equipment there?

Are you swapping for the same make aftermarket stereo?

No it's a vdo and I'm putting in pioneer!

You will need a patch lead for the Pioneer then... Make sure you ask if its compatible with your model, as I had a pioneer with the steering controls, then upgraded to a top of the range pioneer then when the steering controls plugged in they were constantly fast forwarding the music. Only stopped when I unplugged the patch lead loosing my steering controls.

Stereo all done!,thanks for the help.now it's door speaker time.not looking forward to it as they never seem to go back as well as they were(door cards/trims) etc any advice given greatlely received ?

As long as they are direct replacement speakers, it should be fine. Clips in the doors "could" break, so just be careful removing the trim.

Got plenty of spare clips and was told I needed adapters for speakers so I bought those too!!
Was thinking while trims off will lubricate inner workings,as driver window is temperamental going up and down!

If you've got adapters, should be fine then. When I did the ones in the VXR, I bought Vauxhall specific fitment Pioneer speakers, so no adapters were needed.

Same as all other crappy vauxhall 17cm speakers.

Would have been nice, but the stereo is the same as the ones fitted to all the other models, along with the rest of the audio.

We'll mine are 12 year old and can't handle new stereos bass so I'll be tackling them at weekend,
Rears first in case I encounter any probs!

Spoke too soon,put new speakers in adapters. now door card/trims won't fit over them
Help required??
