ECU reset problem

I'm having a problem with a spare ECU I have for my VX220.
I have the Courtney Remap on my original ECU but I am going to move to the Dutch software.
I want to keep my Courtney map on the original ECU, so I bought a second ECU on Ebay. It came from a 2.2 Zafira (2002), and I have the security code.
I plugged the ECU into my VX and went to reset it with Tech 2. The Reset failed, probably due to it being configured for a Zafira but plugged into a VX.
Anybody know how I could get around this problem?

@[deleted] may be able to help or @[deleted] @[deleted], I thought you would need the chip and immobiliser and some key but I don't know that much about ECU's sorry.

Are you going forced induction / high NA to choose the Dutch software?

I'm running the typical stage 2 supercharger setup, but intend to do more work to the engine in the near future. The other reason is that I'm just running the Courtney base map, as it's a bit of a Trek from Ireland to get the map tweaked,

ecu should be the same part the vx don't have the cooling module that controls the a/c like the astra/zaf

there may not be a need to reset the ecu if you sending it off to get the dutch software as the whole ecu will be rewritten he will probably ask you for your chassis number so he can add it to the ecu
it also maybe easier to email and ask what happens if you send him a secondary ecu to program im sure he will be able to answer better than i can 🙂

Once you have the right ECU.........

The ECU needs to be programmed into reading the Immobiliser ring and key chip.

I think you can program your current immobiliser to your new ecu with the security pass, not sure...

You may need to divorce the current ECU in the car, from the immobiliser and keys and then marry the new one to immobiliser and keys.

As long as you have the security pass code to both ECU's you shouldn't have a problem.

as PowR Remap says, you will need to divorce an ECU before it can be married to another transponder ring and key chip. this is also known as zeroing an ECU.
an ECU that's coded to another vehicle without transponder, chip and codes is really just a paper weight. 🙁

I spoke with Peter, the easiest solution for me is to send him both ECUs. He will clone my Courtney ECU to my spare ECU, and then change the software to obdtuner.
I will then receive back both ecu's, which will both be compatible with my car.
As the Meerkats say.. Simples
