have a problem that started about 2 weeks ago, pulling on to a roundabout kick up into 2nd gear, and then all of a sudden the car jolts like all the petrol was sucked from the engine only to then a second later backfires and jumps back to life.
since then ive noticed the fuel pump sound like its slurping rather then a humm, and also the fuel gauge has turned temperamental, i got 1/4 tank and stick £10 in and nedle stays where it is , sometimes goes up but when i start to drive it drops rather quick, each time i start the car the needle sits in a different position.

found today on school run (racing a 2.0 pug) that if i race the bollocks out of it the needle sinks all way to empty and when i came to a stop it goes back up to what i think is an accurate reading (or close too) but to the decline again once moving,
just to add in there that also since this happened my central locking is working when it wants sometime allowing me to lock but not immobilse and other times it working properly, and other times not at all, windows not going up auto when i hold button for a second
ive checked battery and connections to it, i was thinking a loose wire to ground on fusebox, but not sure
any help would be appreciated
