Arb bush size

How is the best way to find out what size rear arb to buy, ps Im only buying standard ones cheers ajn

Can I just use a 18mm open end spanner for example on the roll bar to gauge the diameter cheers ajn

can you not put a tape measure at the side a guesstimate ?

I just measured 17mm with a vernier a few days back my car is vec b 2.2 but you do not say what your car is

Its a 08 2.2 petrol design apparently they can be anything from 16mm to what ever hence why I want to buy the right one,seems a supple tape measure is the way forward thanks ajn

I've just been looking for rear arb bushes on fleabay, and saw 1 pair quoted as for all models vec b Sri, gsi, etc, but they only had 14 or 16mm?
I'll get vernier calipers on mine b4 I order any but if it measures 17mm do u buy 16 for tight fit or have a proper look for correct size?
I've also heard rose bushes mentioned b4, are these the ones at each end of the rear arb? I've got rear wheel bearings to do b4 mot & was thinking of doing the rear arb bushes & maybe the rose bushes if they need it?

Bits circled in black are the rose bush's just done mine last weekend 12 quid for 4 on e bay . i have recently done the r arb bush's and myself put on 16mm bush's for a tight fit it is possible , although i measured 17mm with a vernier. So i think it is up to yourself what size to fit . i was thinking that over time with a little wear one size smaller than what i measured would still be a tight fit

I was thinking the same about 16mm and squeeze them on if it does indeed measure 17, which I still have to check. And at that price for the rose bushes it may well be a good idea to get them done sooner rather than l8r.

No worries. You can even use the eurocarparts website this will tell you when you put in your car details what size your r arb bush's are . with a vernier i measured 17mm euro website tells you the internal diameter of the rear bush is 14mm . So this is why i went for 16mm bush's

Cheers, will take a look at that thread, and yes I checked Eurocarparts, it said 16mm, would like to have gone for poly bushes but with doing front arb as well and rear wheel bearings for mot it started getting a bit pricey.
Probably are the same parts mines 51plate vec b Sri 150, 2.2 so only few months between them.

I didnt know what size to buy so I've just loosened off the bolt slipped 2 washers in between the bush at the flat edge and tightened it up,knocking have stopped. Vauxhall sell 17mm arbs just over a £5er. ajn

Fiver each? Is that for the vec c? I wouldn't like to say if they would fit the b or not? I'm gonna measure my rarb to be sure, besides it could be the only lie down time I get this week. Lol
Farb bushes and links arrived 2day B) just gotta source the rear ones & rwb X2, maybe the roses then I'm set to go.

Yeah vec c 2.2 08 is what I needed, I emailed Vauxhall Cardiff the guy said he's got rear arbs 17mm should fit.....ajn

Best bet is to just give your dealer your reg number. I believe you should have 19mm ones if you have an SRi, I replaced mine on my Vec the other week, they should have the size moulded into the rubber on the side of the bush. PS there a right pain in the rear to fit. Slowly raising a jack under the hub helps align the bridal and lock the top part in.

Just noticed you have a "design" spec . So as you said could be anything, on the Signum "design's" were fitted with SRi suspension but not sure on the Vec. Just take the wheel off and as said you can see the size on the side of the bush.

I checked mine and they say 17, the bushes look fine, no degradation, but as in ur pic rushy there appears to be a very slight gap around the rarb? & as most spares places are listing 16mm for mine, (yes I checked it against reg) so I've ordered the 16's
1 quick Q? can I grease around arb b4 installation? Would aid fitting but don't the bushes need to grip arb?

I just sprayed a bit of silicon wd40 on there. I was told normal wd40 could lead the rubber to deteriorate. The bar should be able to twist smoothly inside the grasp of the bush.
